Take time to be outside today.
Think about everything that nature provides – air, water, plants and animals that sustain us. Such gifts should not be taken lightly for they can vanish or be contaminated. In our numbers and powerful technologies we are ‘the bull in nature’s china shop’. We need to take great care.
May you always cherish this Earth and share in her joys.

Your web site is very interesting, but would not let me display your page to submit a comment. So here it is.
I wish everyone would hold back on the chemicals they put on the lawns and fields to help keep the bees alive. But, NO!!! everyone has to have a green lawn, that’s not what GREEN is all about. The cell phone tower high pitch noise is also a contribution
to our dying bees.
Too many housing developments being built, taking the land from the bees to nectar and the habitat of our animals.
What can you do for one day to help the environment of our earth.
My contribution to our earth. I do not put chemicals on my lawn. I let the bees nectar the clover. I use a reel mower to mow my lawn.
I feed and put water out for the birds. I pick up trash.
Thank you for your web-site, very interesting.
I’m trying to GREEN. Hedy

Thanks very much everyone for your kind words and actions.
I think people forget that there are so many little things you can do to help the earth. With 6 billion people on the planet, everybody doing one little thing makes a huge difference. Even things like switching your bills from paperless to digital. Here’s a cool interactive thing I found where you can see the difference it makes by going paperless: http://www.creditcards.com/credit-card-news/earth-day-credit-card-stories-1264.php
Hi. Please join the Bicycle to Work! LinkedIn networking group. Members pledge that they will try to ride their bicycle to work or on an errand at least once a week. Although the benefits should be obvious, let me outline them here.
Right now people in the industrialized world are facing two very grave problems: obesity and a growing scarcity of oil. Compounding this problem is the new food shortage brought about, in part, by the conversion of food cropland to bio-fuel crop production. Most people feel powerless to help, but there is one thing that we can do. Ride our bicycles to work.
If everyone would agree to ride their bikes to work one day per week we could cut oil consumption by as much as 10-15%. No one would argue that riding a bike burns more calories than driving the car. Although popular politically right now, most bio-fuels consume more energy than they produce. We would be much better to eat those bio-crops then use our own energy to transport us around.
So spread the word. Make it a movement! Bicycle to work one day a week and do your part to cut back obesity and the overuse of oil and precious cropland.
Just go to my profile at http://www.linkedin.com/in/jeffreylstevenson and you can click on the group to be included. While you are there, don’t forget to ask to link to my network of more than 7,000.000 like-minded professionals. I accept all invitations and look forward to meeting you.

[…] Earth Day Wishes From Stephen Leahy, Environmental Journalist (Stephen Leahy) […]
The number one thing I try to do not just on earth day, but year-round to do my part for the planet is steer clear of bottled water. Not only does it have environmental implications, but it’s costing us a fortune! This is great article that explains just how much money and natural resources we waste on bottled water and its packaging:
