Hurricane Sandy Speaks:

Earlier I called myself a hybrid storm: part nature, part human. That’s not quite right. Humans and Hurricanes are part of nature. We both thrive on this planet thanks to sunlight, water and carbon dioxide (CO2). Hurricanes and tropical storms have been around for millions of years. In the last 50 years things have changed. The oceans are warmer. This week the waters off the US east coast were 3 degrees C warmer than normal.

Hi Stephen,

What utter rubbish. We humans had nothing to do with causing Hurrucane Sandy or any other hurricanes or damaging weather events. These are simply Mother Nature doing what she has been doing since the Earth began. All that we humans can do is adapt to whatever is thrown at us – ’twas ever thus.

Have a very happy Xmas and best wishes for 2013. I hope that you manage to find a proper job.

  Pete, I never said climate change caused Sandy or other extreme weather events. Climate science shows climate change is making these events worse and more frequent because global temps are higher and there is more water vapour in the atmosphere. If you read the series all this is carefully explained.

I never said climate change caused Sandy .. ” but I didn’t say anything about climate change either did I? What I said a=was ” .. We humans had nothing to do with causing Hurrucane Sandy .. “.so what does your reference to “anthrostorm” mean?
